This post concerns when a freshly installed Trial license of a FortiGate VM does not work, due to an error in the evaluation license. An error at the GUI or CLI appears.
First edit the Virtual Machine. Enable “Synchronize guest time with host”:
Then disable on all interfaces “Connect at power on”:
Perform following steps:
- start VM
- login with admin
- # get system status
Check for evaluation time and system time - # config system ntp
- # set ntpsync disable
- # set type custom
- # end
- # execute shutdown
Edit Virtual Machine settings once again. Enable “Connect at power on” on interfaces you want to use:
Power on the Virtual Machine and login with admin.
Enter at CLI:
# get system interface
Look at the IP where you can connect to with the GUI.
